Known as the Soft Coral Capital of the World, Fiji offers some spectacular diving experiences. From the breathtaking inner reef coral gardens to some of the world’s best outer reef pelagic and shark dives, the crystal clear waters are warm all year round—home to thousands of unique dive sites teeming with life.
Enjoy wall diving, wreck diving, lagoon, and cavern diving. Encounter a remarkable variety of underwater life, including over 390 coral species, some 1,200 species of fish, and five of the world’s seven species of marine turtles.
All of our diving is operated by Viti Water Sports, a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre, and we can cater for certified, occasional and first-time divers.
Before exploring, first time divers on our Small Ship Cruises will need to complete orientation in our onboard freshwater swimming pool. We offer two, 40-minute dives per day wherever possible, as well as night dives on occasion, ensuring you get to experience a great range of dive sites during your cruise.
All equipment is supplied for your dive. However, you will need to have a current Open Water Dive Certificate to participate in certified dives.
By combining your dive holiday with a relaxing Captain Cook cruise, you’ll have the chance to explore up to 3 different dive sites every day, and participate in shore excursions when your dive schedule allows. If your partner doesn’t dive, they can still enjoy some of the other great cruise activities scheduled during dive excursions.
We’ve incorporated a wide variety of dives for all experience levels into our 3, 4 and 7 Night Mamanuca and Yasawa Island Cruises, our 7 Night Remote North (Colonial) and 4 Cultures Discovery Cruises and, for the ultimate experience, our cruise to the remote Lau group and Kadavu. You can choose how many times you’d like to dive during each cruise.
Our PADI Five Star resort offers dive courses onboard if you wish and obtain your Open Water, Advanced Diver or Rescue Diver PADI qualification. The learning can be completed online prior to your cruise or aboard with our expert dive team.
Fiji is world-famous for shark diving. The Awakening Shark Dive is an encounter you don’t want to miss. The star of the dive is the elusive Bull Shark; a species rarely found at any other dive location worldwide.
Other shark species you may encounter on this remarkable dive include Tawny Nurse Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Reef Sharks and Silver-Tip Sharks.
Our shark experts can give you a rare and intimate insight into the lives of these fascinating and widely misunderstood creatures in their natural habitat. Combine this 45-minute dive with our 3 or 7 Night Yasawa Island Cruise as a holiday highlight.
*Operations for the Shark Diving are currently closed until July.
Some of our most popular dive sites include Tivua Island for its amazing coral gardens, the wreck of the MV Raiyawa, Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands for their incredible wall and canyon diving, and our extremely popular Awakening Shark Dive.
Although no specific dive site can be guaranteed, the abundance of natural underwater wonders ensure that we can almost always pick a perfect spot to explore during your diving schedule.
If you can’t join one of our Small Ship Cruises but don’t want to miss out on the amazing diving that Fiji offers, then take our Day Trip Dive Safari to Tivua Island. Tivua Island is a coral atoll surrounded by 500 acres of coral reef so offers a variety of dive experiences including the new MV Raiyawa wreck dive.
Raiyawa was built in 1982 in Fiji and was a government vessel deployed in placing and maintaining Navigational marks around Fiji and also used to carry passengers inter-island. In 2014 Raiyawa was decommissioned and extensive work was done on “Raiyawa” to ensure she was safe for diving. Work included opening large swim throughs in her hull and superstructure, as well as removing any hazards to divers such as sharp edges and obstructions. She was extensively cleaned and prepared in line with the environmental guidelines.
The wreck will become a key dive site for avid divers and is situated just off Tivua Island. Passengers on Captain Cook Cruises Island Day cruise, and M.V. Reef Endeavour Small Ship cruise itineraries will have the option of diving at the “Raiyawa” wreck.
